Who We Are
enFocus is a non-profit organization that brings an entrepreneurial focus to communities in the South Bend - Elkhart, Indiana region through two-year, salaried Fellowships and paid internships. Through these programs, enFocus recruits top talent, provides mentorship and cohort-based programming, and executes innovation projects for community partners, called sponsors, in the Civic (education, government, healthcare, nonprofit, etc.) and Industry (manufacturing, technology, private business, etc.) sectors. Since its founding in 2012, enFocus has also incubated 53 startups and social impact initiatives through Research, Development, & Entrepreneurship.

What You’ll Do
As we continue to grow the enFocus Fellowship and Internship programs, we are seeking experienced project leaders to take on key management roles.

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the oversight and management of several projects at one time in the Civic portfolio, as well as projects in the Research, Development, & Entrepreneurship (RDE) portfolio. You will guide Fellow projects and be accountable for the timely completion of tasks and the creation of high-quality deliverables–and you will help Fellows think strategically about how best to solve problems and guide services in the region.

At the same time, you will be responsible for securing and scoping new projects, either through direct interactions with targeted new sponsors or through the submission of grant proposals to local, state, and federal organizations.

Throughout each year, you will also participate in recruiting and hiring processes by attending career fairs and conducting interviews to help enFocus identify the next cohort of Fellows and Summer Interns–and you will have other internal operations duties as well.

You will report directly to enFocus’ Leadership Team. 

Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities may be grouped into the following categories: Project Management, Business Development, & Operations Support.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple ongoing projects in the sponsored and RDE project portfolios
  • Engage and management relationships with enFocus organizational sponsors and act as a lead liaison to develop and manage project work plans
  • Develop and/or manage project related documentation including scopes, charters, deliverables and other communications
  • Regularly meet with Fellow teams to build work plans, manage tasks and troubleshoot issues that arise
  • Actively coach and develop Fellows by fostering a positive learning environment, offering strong guidance and direction, and recommending resources as necessary
  • Support the interactions with enFocus mentors
  • Provide input to the Director of Programs regarding project assignments, capacity management and hiring strategies and targets


Business Development

  • Develop relationships with South Bend-Elkhart community leaders to identify opportunities to collaborate with enFocus
  • Secure new sponsored projects for enFocus through organizational project engagements
  • Participate in development of grant proposals across local, state and federal organizations 
  • Design and develop new ideas that solve problems in the community and/or align with strategic growth areas at enFocus
  • Develop all solutions with sound work plans and financial strategies


Operations Support

  • Support  the delivery of impactful programming with the support of other enFocus staff and Fellows, including internal events, external/community events and professional development opportunities
  • Provide regular reports on project and Fellow performance internally and for the Board of Directors as appropriate
  • Liaise with Fellows and enFocus leadership to ensure that we deliver a world-class Fellowship experience
  • Participate in recruiting activities as needed, including sourcing candidates, interviews, and providing feedback about applicants
  • Act as a champion for the enFocus mission and values to ensure that we maintain an excellent organizational culture


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Master’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in managing and/or completing business and technology projects


Ideal Candidate

  • Highly skilled people manager with the ability to build strong relationships, build consensus, and coach a team toward common goals
  • Strong experience in developing project plans and coaching staff towards the completion of project activities
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup or previous technology/consulting experience is a plus

 

Job Type
Full-time, permanent position. Salaried, non-exempt.

Location
enFocus Project Managers are expected to be located in the South Bend-Elkhart region to work in-person at enFocus offices in South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana, or Niles, Michigan, and on-site at community sponsors; however, Project Managers will also have the flexibility to work remotely on occasion.
